| NOTES:
A true ikat (e-kot) is a dyeing and weaving craft originated in
Asia centuries ago. The highly specialize technique combines geometric
calculations, multiple hand dyeing processes and influences from
nature to create the characteristic blurred motifs in rich variegated
colors.
Joseph Noble’s newest fabric Nirvana evokes the aesthetic
of the ancient artisan technique using modern materials for today’s
interiors market. It recreates the ikat effect using a two color
high performance nylon warp combined with the natural feel and appearance
of linen and cotton. The hand designed and detailed weave structures
are built to simulate hand crafted textiles, but are then woven
on a high-speed jacquard looms.
The result is a beautiful organic look with high performance characteristics.
Nirvana when tested for abrasion shows no appreciable breakage or
wear at 51,000 double rubs Wyzenbeek.
According to Gautama Budda, “The destruction of greed, hatred
and delusion is Nirvana. Nirvana is the highest happiness.”
Our color names come from the eightfold attributes of Nirvana itself:
Nirodha (Cessation), Subha (loveliness/wholesomeness), Satya (Truth),
Tattva (Reality), Nitya (eternity), Sukha (bliss), Atman (the Self),
and Parisuddhi (complete purity).
